You’ve heard of baked beans on toast, or beans on jacket potato, how about baked beans in a burrito? Ireland’s most popular Mexican burrito chain, Boojum has announced that from today all of its stores across the country will now have baked beans added to its menu due to a black bean and pinto bean shortage.

The chain notified its followers via social media that baked beans will temporarily replace both black bean and pinto bean due to unforeseen supply chain difficulties. Baked beans will be the sole bean option for some time whilst the company addresses its stock issues.

Robert Powell, Operations Manager at Boojum said, “Over the years we have introduced many new additions to the menu, however this has bean something we never could have seen coming.

“People may be apprehensive to try the baked beans at first but believe me, you will be blown away! Our entire team have tried the baked beans in their burritos and bowls and we honestly don’t know why we didn’t introduce this option sooner. Many of our customers already mistake pinto beans or baked beans so it was a no brainer to introduce this saucy option to the mix! We know this is a risk but after getting a unanimous thumbs up from the team during the testing phase, we are confident our customers will absolutely love this new menu item.”

April Fühl, long-time Boojum addict, who has already tasted this new combination said, “When I took the first bite I thought, where have you bean all my life?! Seriously don’t knock it til you’ve tried it! Adding baked beans rather than my usual choice of black beans made me nervous, however as soon as I tried it, it brought a new dimension to the flavour and was surprisingly delicious!”

Baked beans are now available at all Boojum restaurants throughout Ireland and are also an option for those ordering via Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo. For more information visit boojummex.com
