The MAC, Belfast’s award-winning cultural hub, and Phoenix Natural Gas have announced plans to extend their partnership for a second year running. The MAC has announced that this year’s festive show will be its own production of the popular fairy tale Hansel & Gretel, proudly sponsored by Phoenix Natural Gas.
Having recently marked its fifth birthday, the MAC celebrated a remarkable milestone of welcoming 1.5million visitors through its doors over the last 5 years. Over the festive period this year, the MAC is set to welcome some 30,000 visitors including countless families and children.
Phoenix Natural Gas and the MAC share common values and last year granted young theatre goers wishes by donating funds to the Welcome Organisation, allowing the charity to provide essential skills to some of the 1,400 homeless people in NI.
Each year, the MAC builds upon its festive programme ensuring it offers something for everyone. Visitors to the MAC travel from across Northern Ireland and beyond, either as part of the MAC’s schools and community programme or as independent gallery visitors and theatre goers.
Packed full of fun for all the family, this brand-new Hansel & Gretel show is written, directed and produced by the MAC. The MAC’s version of the classic fairy tale has been brought bang up to date, but with all the characters that audiences will know and love.
This year is anticipated to be the venue’s biggest year to date regarding visitor numbers with over 5,000 school children attending the festive show. The MAC has developed exceedingly strong relationships with local schools – some of whom are returning for their sixth Christmas visit in the MAC’s short, yet thriving, history.
Michael McKinstry, Chief Executive for Phoenix Natural Gas, said:
“Phoenix Natural Gas is delighted to once again sponsor this year’s Christmas show at the MAC. The family show is a cornerstone of family entertainment and enjoyment in Belfast and beyond over the holiday period.
“Having recently celebrated its fifth birthday, the MAC has firmly established itself as a leading choice of new and continued family traditions of visiting the theatre each Christmas. This is a tradition we are very pleased to support.”
Anne McReynolds, Chief Executive at the MAC, added:
“We are excited to have Phoenix Natural Gas partner with us again this year for our magical Christmas show – Hansel & Gretel. The MAC and Phoenix Natural Gas are equally committed to providing exceptional service to families and residents throughout Northern Ireland. We look forward to sharing some more exciting news on our first Christmas show written, directed and produced by the MAC.”
